OxGEn is Committed To “Strengthening The Laboratory Infrastructure In Ghana”

OxGEn, in collaboration with Unternehmer TUM and the Technical University of Munich, is pleased to announce its participation in the GIZ (The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH) funded project, “Strengthening the laboratory infrastructure in Ghana.” The project aimed to build capacity and enhance the laboratory infrastructure in Ghana, focusing on training laboratory specialists and equipping them with the necessary materials and mobile laboratories to carry out LAMP-PCR testing.

Over the course of the project, 120 laboratory specialists at approximately 50 facilities throughout Ghana received comprehensive training courses in proper sample collection, RNA extraction, and LAMP-PCR testing. The training included hands-on experience using mobile laboratories equipped with cutting-edge devices and materials for sampling, testing, and diagnosis. The courses enabled laboratory specialists to use the new technology confidently and ensured they could perform high-quality testing in their facilities.

One of the most significant outcomes of the project was in the establishment of a local supply chain to produce COVID-19 tests, contributing to the country’s efforts to combat the pandemic. Finally, the project results were published, providing practical guidance to all interested parties and contributing to the global knowledge base on laboratory infrastructure development.

As part of its ongoing mission to promote sustainable development and foster positive change globally, OxGEn remains dedicated to supporting initiatives that make a real difference in the communities they serve. The “Strengthening the laboratory infrastructure in Ghana” project is a testament to the organization’s commitment to supporting sustainable development and promoting positive change in communities worldwide.
